Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects about 10% of women and girls of reproductive age, roughly 190 million people worldwide (WHO). On average it takes 7 to 11 years from first symptoms to a diagnosis (Nnoaham 2011; Hudelist 2012). Those years carry a real cost in health, work and healthcare spending (Simoens 2012).

The delay is built into how the disease presents, not into how much anyone cares. Symptoms overlap with bowel, bladder and pelvic floor conditions, no blood test can confirm endometriosis, imaging often misses early lesions, and training in complex endometriosis surgery is limited. Pelvic nerve pathology is rarely part of a standard evaluation.
