Specialist endometriosis care in Massachusetts
Mass General Brigham runs a minimally invasive gynecologic surgery program across Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and its page lists laparoscopic excision of endometriosis among the procedures performed. Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Beth Israel Lahey Health both appear on the AAGL's list of fellowship sites in complex benign gynecology, so the Boston area trains as well as treats. Outside Boston, UMass Memorial Health in Worcester lists minimally invasive gynecologic surgery among its obstetrics and gynecology care areas, and UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester is the state's public medical school.
Worcester is about 40 air miles from Boston and Springfield about 80, so Boston, Worcester and Springfield are each within a two-hour drive of an academic gynecology department.
Massachusetts adopted the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion, according to KFF. The state Department of Public Health website refused automated requests on the day these facts were checked, so no state page is cited here.
