Specialist endometriosis care in Arizona
Arizona's fellowship training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery sits in its two largest cities. The AAGL Complex Benign Gynecology Fellowship listing includes two Arizona sites: Banner University Medical Center with the University of Arizona College of Medicine, whose obstetrics and gynecology department is in Tucson, and Mayo Clinic Arizona. The University of Arizona runs public medical school campuses in both Tucson and Phoenix. The Tucson department's site lists subspecialties such as female pelvic medicine but does not name an endometriosis or minimally invasive gynecologic surgery program.
Outside those two metros the distances are long: Flagstaff is about 120 air miles from Phoenix and Yuma about 160. The March of Dimes 2026 report classifies 2 of Arizona's 15 counties (13.3 percent) as maternity care deserts, below the national figure of 35 percent, but 93.3 percent of counties have a women's uninsured rate above 10.9 percent, and 55,000 women live more than 30 minutes from a hospital with labor and delivery services.
Arizona adopted Medicaid expansion, per KFF's October 2026 status table. The Arizona Department of Health Services keeps a women's and children's health page listing state programs.
