Specialist endometriosis care in New Mexico

The University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is the state's only medical school, and it is public. Its Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology lists fellowships in maternal-fetal medicine, urogynecology, complex family planning and gynecologic oncology; it does not list a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. UNM Health's women's health service is the clinical arm. No New Mexico hospital appears on the AAGL's list of fellowship sites in complex benign gynecology.

New Mexico's size works against patients outside Albuquerque. Las Cruces is about 190 air miles from Albuquerque, and Farmington in the northwest is about 140, so a specialist visit from either city means several hours of driving each way.

New Mexico adopted the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion, according to KFF. The New Mexico Department of Health's Family Health Bureau publishes women's health resources.
