Specialist endometriosis care in Tennessee

Tennessee's academic gynecology is spread across three cities. In Nashville, Vanderbilt Health's gynecologic surgery program lists endometriosis and pelvic pain among the conditions it treats and complex benign gynecologic surgery among its surgeons' focus areas, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center's obstetrics and gynecology department runs a two-year Complex Benign Gynecology fellowship alongside a Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. In Chattanooga, Erlanger lists a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery fellowship among the fellowships it sponsors through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine Chattanooga, whose obstetrics and gynecology faculty include that subspecialty. In Memphis, the UTHSC obstetrics and gynecology department says it provides minimally invasive gynecologic surgery services; UTHSC describes itself as the state's public statewide academic health science system.

Memphis is about 200 miles from Nashville in a straight line, Knoxville about 160 and Chattanooga about 110; Johnson City is about 90 miles from Knoxville and Chattanooga about 100, so patients in the far east and west of the state face long drives whichever program they choose.

Tennessee has not adopted the Affordable Care Act Medicaid expansion, according to KFF's October 2026 tracker. America's Health Rankings' 2026 report puts 6.7 percent of Tennessee women aged 15 to 44 in a county with no hospital or birth center offering obstetric care and no obstetric clinicians. The Tennessee Department of Health is the state's public health agency; we could not verify a dedicated women's health page.
